Gertrude Emefa Donkor, Managing Director of GoldBod Jewellery, has announced the launch of the company’s new e-commerce platform, jewelry.goldbod.gov.gh, describing it as Ghana’s first 24-hour digital gold showroom.

She made the announcement during a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, November 27, where she said the initiative is a major step toward advancing Ghana’s gold value-addition agenda.

According to Ms. Donkor. although Ghana is Africa’s number one gold producer, the country has for many years exported raw gold while importing finished jewellery from Dubai, India, Europe, and other markets.

“Today we break that cycle. Today, we are changing that narrative forever,” she said.

She explained that Goldbod Jewellery, formerly PMMC Jewellery Limited, incorporated in 2016, has undergone restructuring and rebranding with a renewed mission to transform Ghanaian gold into worldproducts made entirely by local artisans.

“Most of the pieces you see from us — the rings, necklaces, bracelets — they are all 100% crafted by Ghanaian master artisans. This is authentic Ghanaian skill, creativity, and pride you can wear on your finger or around your neck,” she added.

Ms. Donkor highlighted the company’s flagship product, the Goldbod Jewellery Tablet, which comes in 1 gram, 5 grams, 10 grams, and 31 grams (one ounce)

“They are pure 24-karat investment gold you can touch, keep, and one day turn into custom-made jewellery,” she said.

She encouraged buyers to hold the tablets for future value appreciation before converting them into customized pieces.

“That is guaranteed capital appreciation in your hands — a simple, brilliant way for every Ghanaian to diversify their portfolio and protect their wealth.”

Announcing the launch of the new website, she said customers in Ghana and abroad can now browse handcrafted collections, see real-time gold prices, shop conveniently and pay securely via mobile money, bank card or direct bank transfer, and arrange pickup from any showroom.

“For the first time, owning a piece of Ghanaian gold is as easy as a few clicks away,” she said.

Ms. Donkor emphasized that the platform is more than a commercial tool, stressing its contribution to Ghana’s economic growth and job creation.

“Every purchase keeps foreign exchange in Ghana and creates job opportunities for our young people. The gold is bought from Ghanaian miners, crafted by Ghanaian hands, and the taxes, wages, and utility bills all remain here,” she said.

She added that one ounce of Ghanaian gold can now generate wealth for generations locally instead of enriching foreign refineries.

Looking ahead, Ms. Donkor said GoldBod plans to establish flagship stores across Ghana and expand into major global markets, including Lagos, South Africa, London, New York, Switzerland, and Dubai.

“You will see Ghana become Africa’s number one gold jewellery and investment gold brand,” she said.

She concluded, “Visit jewelry.goldbod.gov.gh. Buy a tablet, order a handcrafted necklace, and give someone a piece of Ghana’s golden future. We are not just selling gold — we are building a legacy.”
