The Paramount Queen Mother of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Nana Akua Asantewaa III, has strongly condemned what she describes as the persistent unfair treatment of queen mothers within the traditional area.
Addressing to the media at her residence, Nana Akua Asantewaa III vowed to defend the dignity and authority of queen mothers, declaring her unwavering commitment to their welfare.
According to her, under Akyem Kotoku tradition, the sole authority to rebuke or destool a queen mother lies with the Paramount Queen Mother.
She expressed disappointment that some chiefs have taken it upon themselves to intimidate and unlawfully remove queen mothers from office.

Nana Akua Asantewaa III urged queen mothers across the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area to remain united and resolute in the face of such challenges, assuring them of her full backing.
She also addressed rumors surrounding the alleged destoolment of the Akyem Asene Queen Mother, dismissing them as false.
She, therefore, charged anyone who hears such pronouncements to treat them as falsehoods.
Several queen mothers present at the press conference echoed her concerns, lamenting the growing disregard for their authority and calling for solidarity among themselves to resist unjust treatment from some chiefs in their respective communities.
