The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has outlined its key priorities and planned interventions for the 2027-2030 medium-term period as government begins preparations for the 2027 national budget.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, led directors and technical officers of the Ministry to the Ministry of Finance for the 2027-2030 Budget Technical Hearing.
The hearing provided an opportunity for the Ministry to present its priorities, with emphasis on strengthening social protection, child protection, gender equity, disability inclusion and social welfare services.
A key focus of the Ministry’s 2027 outlook is to consolidate recent policy and legislative gains by supporting the implementation of approved frameworks while advancing outstanding legislation in several areas.
These include child protection, domestic abuse, ageing, young persons’ justice and the regulation of non-profit organisations.
The Ministry also highlighted plans to strengthen protection and support systems for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
It said efforts would also be intensified to improve the delivery of social services and strengthen monitoring mechanisms across the country.
The presentation forms part of the ongoing preparations for the 2027 Budget, which the Ministry of Finance has indicated will be developed within the 2027-2030 medium-term framework.
The Gender Ministry said the planned interventions are intended to strengthen Ghana’s social protection and welfare systems while promoting greater inclusion and protection for vulnerable groups.
