Independent parliamentary hopeful for the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Abraham Aidoo, has called for greater community participation in local development, arguing that individuals do not need political appointments or positions to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Mr. Aidoo said he had begun engaging residents in the constituency to understand their challenges, noting that some of the problems they face could be addressed through practical guidance, knowledge-sharing and community support.
According to him, the engagements have reinforced his belief that people can use their knowledge and skills to improve living conditions in their communities without necessarily holding public office.
“I realised that if we acquire knowledge, we don’t need appointments to put them to use.
We can work and improve the lives of the people living in our communities,” he said.
Mr. Aidoo maintained that effective community leadership should be driven by a willingness to act and serve rather than the pursuit of political titles or positions.
He argued that individuals who take the initiative to address local challenges can inspire others to contribute to meaningful change.
“You don’t need any ‘position’ to do that. You just have to move, and people will rise and follow you and assist for that change to occur,” he stated.
He further suggested that financial resources alone do not determine a person’s ability to support community development, emphasising the importance of compassion, determination and personal commitment.
According to him, people who genuinely seek to help others can attract the support needed to turn their ideas into practical solutions.
Mr. Aidoo expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential to improve the living conditions of its citizens through collective action and a stronger commitment to community development.
He identified determination, willingness, sacrifice and love as important values that could help individuals and communities achieve more.
“Ghana, we have the potential to make our lives better: determination, willingness, sacrifice and pure love will make us achieve more than we can possibly imagine,” he said.
