Two persons have been arrested following the alleged lynching and death of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The Savannah Regional Police Command, in a statement dated August 26, 2026, identified the suspects as Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter, and Issah Mahama, 22, a student.
The arrests followed investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media.
In the statement, the Police said, “The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man to death at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.”
The Police further stated, “The suspects, Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter and Issah Mahama, 22, a student were arrested following investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing sheanuts.
According to the Police, “Preliminary Investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Yibonwura was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing sheanuts. He subsequently died from the injuries sustained during the assault.”
The two suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations as the Command works to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police have launched a manhunt for a third suspect who remains at large.
The Command said, “A manhunt is underway for the third suspect, who is currently at large. Investigations are also ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all persons connected to the crime are brought to justice.”
The Police are continuing investigations to identify all persons connected to the incident and ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.
