Ghana has intensified its diplomatic campaign to secure international support for its bid to retain its position on the United Nations Human Rights Council, with a high-level engagement held with Chilean authorities.
The meeting formed part of Ghana’s broader efforts to rally support for its re-election and reaffirm its commitment to advancing human rights through the multi-lateral system.
During the engagement, Ghana’s Ambassadorto Brazil, Nii Amasah Namoale, highlighted the country’s longstanding commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights, democratic governance, the rule of law and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
He stressed Ghana’s position that the UN Human Rights Council must remain a credible and effective platform for promoting universal human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Ambassador Namoale subsequently appealed to Chile to support Ghana’s re-election bid, while emphasising the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries within the multi-lateral system.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for Ghana and the Chilian in Brasília Ambassador, H.E. Issa Kort to reaffirm their cordial bilateral relations and explore avenues for deeper cooperation at both bilateral and international levels.
Ghana’s campaign forms part of efforts to strengthen its voice within the global human rights architecture and maintain its contribution to shaping international responses to emerging human rights challenges.
The country’s diplomatic message centres on principled engagement, respect for human dignity and multilateral cooperation as key pillars of its relations with the international community.
