The Ghana Prisons Service has received a new 33-seater Eicher bus from President John Dramani Mahama to improve the movement of personnel and support operations at its facilities.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak handed over the vehicle on the President’s behalf at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra.
The gesture fulfils a pledge made by President Mahama when he commissioned the Damongo Camp Prison.
Mr Muntaka said providing the security services with the right logistics was essential to improving their ability to carry out their duties.
The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, expressed gratitude for the support and assured that the vehicle would be deployed to its designated facility for immediate operational use.
The handover brought together Deputy Interior Minister Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, BOST CEO Afetsi Awoonor, officials of the Interior Ministry and senior officers of the Prisons Service.
