The government has inaugurated a seven-member committee to engage potential investors and develop a clear roadmap for the revitalisation of the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO).
The committee is expected to identify and engage credible strategic partners whose investment proposals align with the government’s vision of restoring VALCO to full and sustainable operational capacity.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, charged the committee to conduct thorough due diligence throughout the investor engagement process and ensure that any proposed partnership protects Ghana’s interests.
He also tasked the committee to prioritise the long-term viability and sustainability of VALCO as it explores options for securing strategic investment to revive the company.
He said the initiative formed part of broader efforts to restore VALCO to its position as a viable and productive aluminium producer capable of contributing significantly to Ghana’s industrial development.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Lawyer Richard Kofi Afenu, pledged the members’ commitment to executing their mandate with professionalism, diligence and dedication.
He said the committee would work to secure a credible and sustainable investment partnership capable of supporting the long-term revitalisation of VALCO.
