Residents of Gomoa Debiso and Gomoa Osedze in the Central Region have received new water systems aimed at improving access to safe and reliable drinking water.

The facilities were handed over to the two communities on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, as part of efforts to address water challenges in the Gomoa West area.

At Gomoa Debiso, a community mechanised borehole was handed over to residents with the support of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Alhaji Mohammed Kassim.

The intervention forms part of measures being undertaken by the sitting Member of Parliament Richard Gyan-Mensah to mitigate the community’s temporary water challenges while longer-term solutions are pursued.

The MP in remark said they were engaging the Ghana Water Company Limited and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CoWASA) to expedite processes for the commencement of government water projects in Gomoa West.

At Gomoa Osedze, residents also received a borehole fitted with a reverse osmosis water purification system to provide the community with access to safe and clean drinking water.

The project was sponsored by The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited and initiated by the Gomoa Osedze Development Association, known as Mpuntu Kuw.

The interventions are expected to improve the quality and reliability of water supply to the beneficiary communities while reducing the challenges associated with access to potable water.

The authorities expressed appreciation to the development partners and individuals supporting the Gomoa West development agenda and called for increased collaboration to address the needs of communities across the district.

Residents of the beneficiary communities were also urged to take ownership of the facilities, protect them and ensure their proper maintenance to guarantee their long-term sustainability.

The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that every community in Gomoa West has sustainable access to safe and reliable drinking water.
