The Ghana Police Service has seized about 500 cartons of assorted brands of Tramadol in an operation at Widana in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, was carried out by personnel from the Police Intelligence Department (PID) and the Operational Team, code-named Black Cobra, following a month-long intelligence-gathering exercise.
According to the police, the team recovered the suspected illicit drugs from a privately operated warehouse and some homes in Widana.
One suspect, identified as Abdul Ali, 21, a Burkinabe, has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Police intelligence indicates that the individuals allegedly involved in importing the drugs are foreign nationals from Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso and Senegal, who reportedly use Widana as a transit and distribution point for the substances.
Abdul Ali is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
The Police Service says efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other persons suspected to be involved in the alleged drug trafficking operation.
