The Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Major General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, has met freight forwarders and other key industry stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and improve operational efficiency at Ghana’s ports.
The engagement focused on practical and sustainable measures to address operational challenges, improve efficiency and ensure the smooth and timely movement of cargo through the country’s ports.
Major General Tanye-Kulono outlined a number of initiatives being pursued by the Port Authority to enhance port operations and facilitate seamless cargo flow.
He said stronger collaboration between GPHA and industry players was critical to identifying challenges affecting port operations and developing workable solutions to improve the trading environment.
The stakeholders welcomed the engagement and commended GPHA management for opening direct dialogue with industry players.
They also pledged their support and cooperation towards efforts to create a more efficient and effective port operating environment.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Meridian Port Services, Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, Association of Customs House Agents Ghana, Customs Brokers Association of Ghana and Freight Forwarders Association of Ghana.
The engagement forms part of GPHA’s broader commitment to strengthening partnerships with stakeholders as a key driver of port efficiency, improved cargo handling and trade facilitation.
The Authority is expected to continue working with industry players to identify and address operational bottlenecks while promoting a more efficient port system to support Ghana’s trade and economic activities.
