The Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital at Bakaano in the Central Region is calling for urgent rehabilitation and maintenance works to restore the facility and improve healthcare delivery to residents.
The hospital, which is located close to the sea, has over the years experienced deterioration of some of its buildings, with poor maintenance contributing to the challenges facing the facility.
The condition of parts of the hospital has also affected patronage of its services, raising concerns about the need for immediate intervention to restore public confidence and improve the quality of care.
Speaking to the media, the Administrator of the hospital, Georges Fritz Doe, said management had begun receiving attention for rehabilitation works aimed at improving the facility.
He said efforts were also underway to strengthen the hospital’s staff capacity, with new doctors and other healthcare personnel joining the facility.
According to him, the hospital has also received additional auxiliary equipment to support medical services and help restore the facility to the standard expected of a metropolitan hospital.
Mr Doe, however, stressed the urgent need to renovate some of the hospital’s older buildings, noting that their current condition could undermine efforts to provide effective healthcare services.
He appealed for continued support to rehabilitate the affected structures and create a safer and more conducive environment for both healthcare workers and patients.
Management believes the ongoing interventions, together with the rehabilitation of the old structures, will help restore the hospital’s capacity and improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Cape Coast and surrounding communities.
