The Upper East Regional leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated Mahama Ayariga and James Agalga following their appointments to key positions in Ghana’s government and Parliament.
In a statement issued in Bolgatanga on August 7, 2026, the party’s regional leadership, led by Regional Chairman Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba and Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Atanga Akamugri, described the appointments as a source of pride for the region.
Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has been appointed Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, while Agalga, MP for Builsa North, has been elevated to Majority Leader of the Ninth Parliament.
The regional NDC said the two appointments recognise the experience and public service records of the legislators, while also reinforcing the Upper East Region’s role in Ghana’s national leadership.
The party urged both appointees to maintain their focus on the public good as they take on their new responsibilities.
“The Upper East Region is proud of you,” the statement said, while extending congratulations to both leaders and wishing them success in their respective roles.
