The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, has engaged the leadership of Shelter Afrique Development Bank (ShafDB) as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and explore new opportunities in housing finance, urban infrastructure and sustainable city development
The strategic engagement, involving officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, and the National Homeownership Fund, focused on strengthening Ghana’s partnership with the continental housing finance institution.
Ghana, as one of the 44 African member states of ShafDB, is expected to benefit from the bank’s transformation into a development finance institution through expanded access to funding and technical support for affordable housing projects, urban infrastructure development and sustainable housing solutions.
Discussions during the meeting reaffirmed government’s commitment to meeting its shareholder obligations and advancing the country’s ambition for permanent representation on the ShafDB Board.
The engagement also highlighted opportunities for Ghana to leverage ShafDB’s broader mandate to mobilise investments, support businesses across the housing value chain, create employment opportunities and accelerate inclusive economic growth.
Government said the partnership aligns with its commitment to addressing housing challenges and promoting sustainable urban development through strategic collaborations with development partners.
