The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has extended the deadline for filing selected tax returns following the severe flooding caused by recent heavy rains in Accra and surrounding areas.

This was announced by GRA in a statement dated Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

According to GRA, the Commissioner-General had approved an extension for the filing of second quarter Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), May 2026 Value Added Tax (VAT), National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL), Communications Service Tax (CST).

It added that the taxes were originally due on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in line with the tax calendar. However, the deadline has now been extended to Monday, July 6, 2026, to support business continuity and ease the burden on taxpayers affected by the floods.

The GRA stated that taxpayers who file by the new deadline “will not be liable for late filing penalties for this filing period. Normal penalties will apply to returns made after the extended deadline.”

The Authority also encouraged taxpayers to take advantage of its digital services to minimise disruptions.

“Taxpayers are therefore encouraged to use the Taxpayer’s Portal and other digital platforms to file returns to minimize travel and avoid delays. Taxpayers experiencing significant operational challenges because of the flooding are advised to contact the nearest GRA Taxpayer Service Centre (TSC) or their tax office for assistance.”

The GRA explained that the extension is intended to provide targeted relief to businesses and individuals affected by the flooding while ensuring they are able to meet their tax obligations without incurring immediate penalties.

It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted tax administration despite the challenges.
