Ghana and Denmark have signed a new partnership aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Osu in Accra, reflecting the two countries’ shared historical ties.
The collaboration begins with a GHS1.7 million heritage preservation project involving the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, University of Ghana and the National Museum of Denmark.
The initiative will focus on documenting significant historical sites in Osu, digitising heritage records, and installing landmarks to improve public awareness and appreciation of the area’s historical significance.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, say the project is intended to preserve Ghana’s cultural memory, deepen public understanding of the country’s history, and safeguard important heritage sites for future generations.
The partnership also supports long-term plans to establish a museum and memorial at Osu Castle, providing visitors and future generations with greater insight into the site’s historical importance and its role in Ghana’s past.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by Ghana and Denmark to strengthen cultural cooperation while preserving shared historical legacies through research, education, and heritage conservation.
