The aspiring independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Abraham Aidoo, has organised a skills training programme for about 300 women at Oyibi aimed at promoting self-employment and economic empowerment.
The participants were trained in the production of powdered soap, liquid soap, and pain-relief balm, as part of efforts to equip them with practical entrepreneurial skills.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Aidoo encouraged the women to take full advantage of the training to establish their own businesses, noting that government alone cannot provide jobs for everyone.
He urged them to use the skills acquired to support themselves, their families, and their communities, stressing that such initiatives help reduce the pressure on government to create formal employment.
According to him, empowering individuals with vocational and entrepreneurial skills remains one of the most effective ways to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods at the community level.
Participants expressed appreciation for the programme, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in the face of growing economic challenges.
