The Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Major General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the Port of Keta Administration Block project, announcing that the facility is on course to be completed and operational by January 2027.
Major General Tanye-Kulono made the remarks during an inspection tour of the project site alongside members of GPHA’s senior management, the Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Gakpey, and the Dufia of Kedzi, Togbi Acolatse V.
According to the project contractor, PSB Realty Company Limited, construction works on the administration block are currently more than 70 per cent complete, with all structural works on the main building fully finished.
Speaking after the inspection, the GPHA Director-General commended the contractors for the quality and pace of work and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
He noted that the Port of Keta project is expected to serve as a major catalyst for economic transformation in the Volta Region by creating employment opportunities, stimulating business activities and improving livelihoods.
Major General Tanye-Kulono further indicated that the development of the port forms part of broader efforts to expand Ghana’s maritime infrastructure and unlock the economic potential of the eastern corridor.
For his part, the Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Gakpey, described the project as a significant milestone for the people of Keta and the Volta Region.
He urged residents, particularly young people, to equip themselves with relevant skills and training to take advantage of the employment and business opportunities that will emerge from the development of the port.
