The Ghana Police Service has cautioned final-year Senior High School students nationwide to remain disciplined and law-abiding as they prepare to complete the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Friday, June 19, 2026.
In a statement, the Service urged candidates to celebrate responsibly after their final papers and avoid engaging in acts of violence, vandalism, arson, assault, or any other unlawful behaviour that could jeopardise their futures.
The Police warned that such offences carry serious criminal consequences and could permanently damage the academic and personal prospects of students who have worked hard to complete their studies.
It further indicated that the Service would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any individual found engaging in acts of misconduct or criminal activity.
The caution follows two recent incidents of student unrest in the Upper East Region, which led to the arrest of six students.
At Zebilla Senior High Technical School, two students were arrested in connection with the alleged burning of a teacher’s apartment, while at Bawku Senior High School, four students were arrested for alleged rioting, assault on school staff, and destruction of school and private property.
The Police Service also called on parents, guardians, and school authorities to support efforts to instill discipline and promote peaceful conduct among students as the examination period concludes.
It stressed the importance of collective responsibility in fostering a culture of respect, discipline, and non-violence within senior high schools across the country
