Lawyer Barima Sarpong, a native of Afigya Sekyere East in the Ashanti Region, has received a rousing welcome from chiefs, party faithful, and residents as he toured the constituency to reconnect with his roots and share his vision for local development.
The visit, described by residents as a “homecoming of service,” began with a courtesy call on the Dawumanhene, Nana Frimpong Ababio Otumfuo Brempong, at his palace in Dawu, where he was warmly received and offered prayers and blessings.
From Dawu, Lawyer Sarpong proceeded to Tabre and Jamasi, engaging opinion leaders, community members, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stakeholders in discussions on development and grassroots mobilisation.
He also paid a visit to former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani, at his residence, where they held private engagements.
Addressing gatherings at various durbars, he reflected on his upbringing in the constituency, describing Dawu, Tabre, and Jamasi as central to his personal and professional journey.
“These towns are not just places on the map. They are the foundation of my story. I have come back home because service to my people is the highest calling I have,” he told residents.
The visit drew enthusiastic reactions from constituents, with some describing him as humble and approachable, while chants of support echoed through the durbar grounds as party members expressed optimism about his leadership prospects.
Lawyer Sarpong, who previously contested the NPP parliamentary primary in 2023 without success, reiterated his commitment to public service and expressed confidence in his future political journey.
“God has a plan for me, and I believe it shall surely come true. My desire is to serve Afigya Sekyere East with integrity and bring real development to our people,” he said.
Traditional leaders and party elders who spoke at the engagements encouraged him to maintain close ties with the grassroots and continue his community outreach efforts.
