The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoah, has called on media practitioners, religious leaders, and traditional authorities to intensify public education on sanitation to promote cleaner and healthier communities across the region.

He made the appeal during an inspection tour of ongoing 24-hour economy market projects at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District.

According to him, sanitation remains one of the key developmental challenges in the Central Region, requiring a coordinated effort from all stakeholders, including the media, churches, mosques, and traditional institutions.

Mr. Eduamoah noted that significant public funds are spent annually on sanitation-related interventions such as waste management and clean-up exercises.

He argued that improved public sanitation practices would allow government to redirect such resources into other critical sectors, including education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and job creation.

He stressed that media houses, religious leaders, and traditional authorities wield considerable influence and can play a vital role in shaping public attitudes towards environmental cleanliness and responsible waste management.

The Minister reiterated his vision of making the Central Region the cleanest in Ghana and urged residents to take personal responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings.

He also used the opportunity to inspect progress on the 24-hour economy market projects, which are expected to boost local trade and economic activity in the district.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Isaac Yawson, pledged full support for the Minister’s sanitation agenda and broader development vision for the district and region.

He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his appointment and assured residents of his commitment to the successful completion of the market projects.

Mr. Yawson said the projects are expected to stimulate local economic activity, create jobs for young people, and improve trading conditions for businesses in the area.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote environmental cleanliness and sustainable development within the district.
