The fourth generation unit at the Akosombo Dam has been successfully restored, marking another key milestone in efforts to stabilise Ghana’s electricity supply following recent disruptions.
Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor announced that the unit was brought back online at exactly 9:09 p.m., describing the development as a significant boost to power generation.
“At 9:09pm, the fourth unit at Akosombo Dam was successfully brought into operation, an encouraging step that strengthens power generation and reflects the dedication and expertise of the team behind the effort,” he stated.
The restoration follows ongoing recovery works after a recent fire incident at the facility, which affected multiple generation units and contributed to power outages across parts of the country.
Authorities say engineers are continuing efforts to fully restore capacity and ensure stable electricity supply nationwide.
