The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has set the minimum price floor for petrol at GH¢16.09 per litre for the October 16–31 pricing window, alongside new benchmarks for diesel, LPG, kerosene and marine fuel.
Diesel has been assigned a minimum price floor of GH¢17.09 per litre, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is set at GH¢13.87 per kilogram.
The schedule, dated Monday, October 12, places Marine Gas Oil (MGO) Local at GH¢17.20 per litre and kerosene at GH¢17.45 per litre.
The price floors are intended to guide Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) during the second pricing window of October.
The NPA said the companies were expected to comply with the benchmarks in accordance with the Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines (PPPG).
The notice explains that the announced floors exclude certain premiums and operating margins, as well as marketers’ and dealers’ margins.
It states, “The price floors exclude the premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs) and the operating margins of BIDECs, as well as the Marketers’ and Dealers’ Margins of OMCs/LPGMCs. These will be independently determined by the companies as pertains under the PPPG.”
The exclusion means the final prices charged at filling stations and LPG outlets may differ from the published floors, depending on the additional charges and margins determined by the companies under the guidelines.
The NPA’s announcement takes effect on October 16 and remains applicable until October 31, 2026.
