Two men have been arrested after allegedly attempting to bribe police officers in connection with a major drug seizure in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Tema Regional Police Command, the incident followed the interception of a Sinotruck Tipper Truck (registration GN 993-14) at Sege Akpla Manya on February 15, 2026.
Officers discovered 3,009 slabs of plant material suspected to be cannabis hidden inside fertilizer sacks. The driver of the truck fled the scene and is still at large.

The following day, Victor Asigbey, 40, and Peter Asigbey, 35, reportedly tried to offer police GH¢150,000 to secure the release of the truck and its illicit cargo. “The money has been retrieved and retained as an exhibit,” the police said.
Both men are now in police custody and were scheduled to appear in court on February 18, 2026.
Authorities confirmed that the truck and the seized substances remain impounded at the Tema Regional Headquarters while investigations continue.

ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for Tema, said, “The Tema Regional Police Command assures the public of its unwavering commitment to combating narcotic-related offences and maintaining the highest standards of integrity in the discharge of its duties.”
The police continue to pursue the truck driver and are investigating the ownership and origin of the vehicle.
