A coordinated intelligence-led operation in the Dawhenya area of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency has led to the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives.
Samuel Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, disclosed the arrests in a Facebook post on Wednesday, December 24.
He stated, “Once again, we have struck at the heart of cybercrime operations within our beloved Homeland.”

The nighttime operation, led by the Cyber Security Authority Ghana in collaboration with the National Security and Ghana Police Service, targeted a network of suspected cybercriminals believed to be predominantly Nigerian nationals, comprising 46 males and two females.
The suspects are alleged to be involved in romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.
Authorities seized 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, a Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers during the operation.

Mr. George further affirmed the government’s stance against cybercrime, saying, “We are committed to carrying out intelligence-led surgical strikes against these crime syndicates to ensure that we rid our cyber ecosystem of these criminals. Ghana welcomes everyone interested in legitimate enterprise. We will remain a hostile domain for cyber criminals.”
He commended the security operatives for their efforts, adding, “I commend the operatives who carried out this operation with the professionalism for which our security services are globally recognised. Their service is celebrated.”

The operation, he said reflects Ghana’s intensified efforts to combat cybercrime and secure the digital space ahead of the festive season.
