A driver with the Volta Regional Health Directorate (VRHD) has been arrested for the alleged unlawful possession of narcotic substances.
Godsway Kwaku Dogbey, who drives for the VRHD, was taken into custody on Friday, January 23, 2026, after authorities discovered suspected narcotics in a vehicle registered to the Directorate (GV 2460-14).
The arrest was made by the regional police in Ho.
Following the incident, VRHD management immediately dispatched a team to the police headquarters to verify the situation.
Police confirmed Mr. Dogbey is in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
In addition to cooperating with law enforcement, the Volta Regional Health Directorate has set up an independent Committee of Enquiry to review the circumstances surrounding the case.
The Directorate is also implementing stricter monitoring and tracking measures for all official vehicles to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, Regional Director of Health Service, assured the public that VRHD remains committed to integrity, accountability, and professionalism in delivering health services.
