The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has successfully secured the arrest of Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals wanted in connection with a high-profile gold smuggling investigation.
The suspects voluntarily surrendered to authorities and have now appeared before the High Court to face charges including gold smuggling, transporting gold without a license, and conspiracy to smuggle gold.
Although the court granted bail, both Alhassan and Abubakar remain in custody as they are yet to meet the stipulated bail conditions. Legal proceedings against them will continue in the coming sessions.
The two remaining suspects, Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam, are still evading arrest.
GoldBod has appealed to the public to assist in providing credible information that could lead to their capture.
A reward of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) per fugitive remains active to encourage tips from anyone with knowledge of their whereabouts.
The Ghana Gold Board continues to work closely with the Ghana Police Service to dismantle the smuggling network and ensure that all involved face justice.
