The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at a jewellery shop near Nyaho Clinic at Dzorwulu in Accra.
According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the suspects—Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin—were picked up on February 24, 2026, at Anyaa after months of intelligence-led investigations.
Police said the robbery occurred on September 11, 2025, when “two-armed men on motorbike attacked a shop, assaulted an attendant, broke the glass door, and made away with assorted jewellery from the shop.”
A search conducted in the suspects’ residence led to the retrieval of several items believed to have been used in the crime. These include a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to their involvement in the robbery and identified an accomplice. Police stated that the suspects “mentioned one Eddy of Oyarifa, as the receiver of the stolen items. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.”
The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Police say investigations are ongoing as they work to apprehend other individuals connected to the case.
