Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has confirmed that the Mahama administration will complete ten of the abandoned Agenda 111 hospital projects next year.
The announcement came during his presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Dr. Forson emphasized the importance of healthcare in national development, stating, “Health is the heartbeat of national development, and no country can build lasting prosperity without a healthy population.”
He outlined the government’s plans to expand healthcare infrastructure, saying, “The 2026 Budget marks a decisive step in our national journey to reset, modernize, and expand Ghana’s health infrastructure. Government will begin the construction of six new regional hospitals for the six newly created regions, starting with three hospitals in 2026 and two district hospitals at Bole and Shama.”
On the completion of stalled projects, he added, “Also, in 2026, government will complete ten of the abandoned Agenda 111 hospital projects.”
Agenda 111 was a flagship health initiative launched under the previous Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, aimed at building 111 hospitals across the country to improve access to healthcare. Many of these projects stalled due to funding and logistical challenges.
