A two 40-foot container shipment at Takoradi Port, declared as ceiling fans, has been found to conceal an estimated 25 million tablets of suspected Tapentadol and Timaking, following an intelligence-led operation by Ghana Customs.
The unusual packaging patterns noticed during routine inspections prompted Sector Commander Walter Blankson to place the containers under tight surveillance before a thorough inspection.

The operation involved a coordinated team from the Narcotics Control Commission, National Security, the National Intelligence Bureau, the Food and Drugs Authority, and the declarant, Maxwell Boateng.
In addition to the drugs, officers discovered thousands of undeclared electrical appliances. Samples of the tablets have been sent to the Customs Chemist for analysis, while the rest of the goods are being held at the State Warehouse in Takoradi for further investigation.

Maxwell Boateng is currently in custody, assisting authorities in tracing the ownership of the shipment.
Customs officials hailed the operation as a testament to the vigilance of frontline officers and the effectiveness of interagency collaboration in protecting Ghana’s borders and public health.
