Singapore has thrown its weight behind President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam expressing strong confidence in Ghana’s new government during a state visit by President Mahama.
“I know you inherited very difficult challenges, but you are off to a very strong start. I have confidence in your government,” President Tharman said at the official ceremony, where President Mahama was received with a guard of honour.

The visit highlighted Ghana’s growing diplomatic and trade pivot toward Asia, as both leaders pledged to deepen cooperation between Accra and Singapore. The two countries signed fresh bilateral agreements aimed at boosting trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) CEO Simon Madjie signed on behalf of Ghana, with both agreements witnessed by Presidents Mahama and Tharman.

Officials say the deals will open new doors for investment and mark a stronger partnership between the two nations as Ghana seeks to expand its economic footprint in Asia.
