Dancehall superstar Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH¢100 million defamation lawsuit against media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, widely known as Blakk Rasta.
The suit stems from a video posted on December 15, 2025, titled “SHATTA WALE, SELF-CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD”, which the musician claims damaged his reputation.
According to court documents filed at the High Court in Accra by the Robert Smith Law Group, Shatta Wale alleges that Blakk Rasta made false and malicious statements labeling him a “king of fraud,” a “thief,” and a “sakawa boy,” while also accusing him of associating with fraudsters and handling stolen money through his bank accounts.
The statement of claim asserts that these claims were intended to portray Shatta Wale as “dishonest, morally corrupt, and untrustworthy in the eyes of right-thinking members of society,” causing distress to his family, fans, and business partners.
Shatta Wale is requesting the court to declare Blakk Rasta’s statements defamatory, order the immediate removal of the video and all related content from social media, and issue a public retraction and apology.
The musician also wants the apology published in full-page adverts in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic ShowBiz.
The lawsuit emphasizes the wide reach of the video, noting that within 24 hours of posting, it received over 150,000 views, 1,000 comments, and more than 6,000 likes on Facebook, as well as over 27,000 views, 40 comments, and 600 likes on YouTube.
The suit further argues that the content portrays Shatta Wale as “a morally reprehensible person with malicious intentions,” “opportunistic,” and “untruthful,” allegations the musician says are entirely false and harmful to his career and public image.
Filed by Bobby Banson of Robert Smith Law Group, the case is expected to be heard by the High Court in Accra, where Shatta Wale seeks both financial compensation and legal measures to prevent further defamatory publications.
