Two suspected military personnel and two civilian accomplices have been arrested for allegedly attempting to rob LongShine Mining Company Limited, a Chinese mining firm at Prestea-Obouhu in the Western Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. when the suspects, dressed in military uniforms and masks, stormed the mine in a Toyota pickup truck.
A distress call to the Prestea Police led to their swift arrest, while two other civilian suspects managed to escape.
The four arrested suspects have since been transferred to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigations, and the vehicle used in the operation has been impounded.
Eyewitnesses and company staff recounted how the gang handcuffed workers, seized money and phones, and demanded access to the mine’s gold room.
The suspects reportedly posed as National Security operatives before their cover was blown.
