President John Dramani Mahama has renewed discussions on establishing a direct air route between Ghana and Jamaica during bilateral talks with Jamaican Prime Minister, The Most Honourable Dr. Andrew Holness, as part of his historic state visit to the Caribbean nation.
The meeting, held on Monday, August 3, focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries through expanded cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, education, tourism, culture and agriculture.
A key outcome of the discussions was the decision to revive plans for a direct airline connection between Ghana and Jamaica, a move expected to boost tourism, facilitate business opportunities and enhance people-to-people exchanges between West Africa and the Caribbean.
President Mahama said the proposed air link would deepen historical and cultural ties between the two nations while creating new opportunities for travel, investment and economic collaboration.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships between Africa and the Caribbean, pledging closer cooperation on regional and international issues of shared interest.
