Parliament has ratified visa waiver agreements with four countries, allowing holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports to travel visa-free between Ghana and Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Presenting the committee report to the House, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, noted that the agreements aim to deepen multilateral cooperation in key areas such as education, energy, trade, tourism, and agriculture.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, assured Parliament that the implementation of these visa waivers is not expected to result in any immediate revenue losses.
He emphasized that the arrangements are expected to boost trade, tourism, and bilateral cooperation, ultimately delivering long-term socio-economic benefits to Ghana and the partner nations.
