More than 60,000 teachers across Ghana have completed a three-day Teacher Promotion Aptitude Test, with the exercise reportedly taking place successfully at examination centres nationwide.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Clement Abas Apaak, disclosed this after monitoring the examination at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) in Accra on behalf of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.
In a statement, Dr Apaak said he witnessed an incident-free exercise at the PRESEC-Legon centre, adding that reports from other parts of the country also pointed to a generally successful process.
“On behalf of the Honourable Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, I had the honour of monitoring the Teacher Promotion Aptitude Test held at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) in Accra,” he stated.
He noted that the promotional examinations were conducted across the country, allowing thousands of teachers seeking advancement in their professional careers to participate.
According to him, more than 60,000 teachers completed the three-day exercise, which forms part of the process for promotion to higher professional ranks.
Dr Apaak also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating opportunities for qualified teachers to advance within the education service.
“President John Dramani Mahama’s administration and the Ministry of Education are committed to ensuring that all deserving staff are given the opportunity to progress to higher ranks without any hindrance whatsoever,” he said.
The exercise is part of efforts to facilitate career progression within Ghana’s teaching workforce, with eligible teachers seeking promotion through the established assessment process.
