Former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) Chief Executive Officer, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has been granted bail of GH¢500,000 with two sureties after his arrest over allegations of publishing false news.
As a result, he will no longer be arraigned in court on Thursday, February 12, 2026, as earlier anticipated.
Mr. Nkansah was picked up by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) in connection with comments he made during a radio discussion about alleged irregularities in the award of government-sponsored scholarships for studies abroad.
His lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, said the Bureau initially planned to take him before court but later changed course after he provided the contact details of the person who reportedly supplied him with the information.
He also explained that Mr. Nkansah could not report at a point because he was attending to his sick father at the KNUST Hospital in Kumasi.
“The NIB has since reviewed their decision… and so tomorrow he is no longer being taken to court,” counsel said, adding that the Bureau is currently verifying the properties of the sureties as part of the bail process.
Mr. Nkansah is expected to continue reporting to the NIB as investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
