The Ghana Police Service has arrested Daniel Adomako, a known New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist and social media commentator popularly called Sir Obama Pokuase, over the alleged circulation of videos showing individuals brandishing high-grade illegal weapons.
Mr. Adomako was picked up on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in a joint intelligence-led operation involving the police and other security agencies. Authorities say the arrest forms part of a broader crackdown on criminal networks linked to the possession, display, and trafficking of sophisticated arms.
According to the police, the suspect is assisting investigators with inquiries into the origin and purpose of the weapons seen in the footage he shared online.
The ongoing operation, which has been in motion for several weeks, has already resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
The statement noted, “His arrest is part of ongoing intelligence-led operations by the Police and other security agencies aimed at dismantling networks involved in the illegal possession and display of sophisticated weapons.”
“He is assisting investigations into some images and videos he circulated on social media depicting individuals openly brandishing these illegally acquired sophisticated weapons. These operations, which have been ongoing for several weeks, have led to the significant retrieval of a substantial number of illegal arms and ammunition.”
The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down criminal elements, dismantling illegal arms networks, and safeguarding public safety.
They have urged the public to provide credible information to aid ongoing operations, assuring that updates will be shared as investigations progress.
