The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has dismissed media reports suggesting that the Auditor-General’s recent Performance Audit Report uncovered financial losses, corruption or misappropriation within the Authority, insisting that such claims are not supported by the audit findings.
In a statement, the NPA said it had taken note of media publications commenting on the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report covering the Authority’s operations from 2023 to 2025.
According to the Authority, the audit report does not establish any financial loss or revenue loss to the NPA.
The Authority also rejected media descriptions of alleged “rot”, corruption or financial misappropriation, stating that these were not findings contained in the Auditor-General’s report.
The NPA further criticised one media report for failing to include management’s responses to the audit findings, arguing that the publication did not present a balanced account of the issues raised.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and good corporate governance, the Authority said it would continue to work closely with the Audit Service to implement appropriate recommendations aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight, improving operational efficiency and enhancing consumer protection in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The NPA urged the public to rely on official communications from the Authority for accurate information regarding the audit report and its findings.
