The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has commenced a three-day training programme for administrative staff from its Central and Western Regional and district offices as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, efficiency and service delivery.
The training, which began on September 1, 2026, is being held at the Kingstel Hotel in Takoradi under the theme “Office Management Excellence: Ethics, Excellence and Teamwork.”
Organised by the Training and Development Unit of the Administration and Human Resource Directorate, the refresher programme is designed to enhance the competence and confidence of administrative staff while equipping them with knowledge on emerging trends, regulatory updates and innovations relevant to their roles.
Opening the training, the Acting Western Regional Director of NHIA, Mr. Joseph Meneabeh Akpoh, commended Executive Management for approving the programme and providing the resources required for its organisation.
He described administrative assistants and officers as the “backbone and engine room” of the Authority, stressing that their effectiveness was essential to the smooth operation of NHIA offices.
Mr. Akpoh urged participants to actively engage in the sessions and take advantage of the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and practical skills that would improve their performance.
The training is being facilitated by CBM Consult Limited, a corporate and professional training consortium.
A Senior Consultant at the organisation, Mr. Theophilus Appah, led participants through a range of topics, including the changing face of administration and office management, work ethics and productivity, records and filing systems, management of essential and sensitive information, effective meeting coordination and the use of office technology.
Participants also took part in interactive discussions, role plays and assessments aimed at strengthening their understanding and practical application of the topics covered.
The programme was coordinated by Erica Owusu Peprah, Human Resource Manager for Performance Management System (PMS), and Lorraine Abedi-Safo, Assistant Manager for Training and Development (T&D), both of the NHIA.
The three-day programme is expected to strengthen the capacity of administrative personnel and contribute to improved professionalism, efficiency, teamwork and quality service delivery across the Authority’s regional and district offices.
