Children of Akosua Serwaa, the legally wedded wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have publicly disassociated themselves from the ongoing legal tussle surrounding their father’s funeral arrangements.
In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosu on behalf of her siblings, the children clarified that they are not parties to the court case filed by their mother against members of the late musician’s extended family.
The statement emphasized that their sole focus is to honor their father’s memory in a manner that reflects peace, unity, and dignity — values they say the late musician deeply cherished.
“We stand together as his children from all sides of the family united in our love and respect for our father. At this difficult time, we wish to focus solely on celebrating his legacy and ensuring a fitting farewell,” the statement read.
The children further appealed to the media and the public to exercise restraint and respect in their commentary on the matter, adding that this period should be about celebrating their father’s musical legacy, not fueling divisions.
The statement comes amid a legal challenge initiated by their mother, Akosua Serwaa Fosu, who has petitioned a Kumasi High Court to recognize her as the late musician’s only lawful spouse and to halt funeral arrangements made without her consent.
Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, and his funeral has been scheduled for December 6 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on December 6, 2025 — a plan that has since sparked controversy within the family.
