The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has called off its planned indefinite strike after the government responded to concerns over unpaid salary arrears.
The decision was taken by JUSAG’s National Executive Council following engagements with government authorities on the association’s demand for the payment of eight months’ outstanding arrears arising from a 10 per cent base pay adjustment in 2025.
The strike, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, January 19, 2026, has now been suspended with effect from January 20, pending the implementation of a payment plan by the government.
JUSAG National President, Samuel Afotey Otu, has directed all Judicial Service staff nationwide to resume normal duties while the association closely monitors progress on the agreed payment arrangements.
The suspension comes ahead of a scheduled meeting convened by the National Labour Commission (NLC), which had earlier intervened in the dispute and summoned representatives from the Judicial Service and the Ministry of Finance for discussions on Wednesday, January 21.
JUSAG says it remains committed to protecting the welfare of its members and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to ensure the full settlement of the outstanding arrears.
