Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has expressed appreciation to businessman Ibrahim Mahama for his exceptional support during her recent medical recovery, describing his presence as a deeply personal source of healing.
In her first public address since returning from a three-week medical leave in the United Kingdom, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang recounted the care she received and expressed special gratitude to Mr. Mahama, the younger brother of President John Dramani Mahama.
The Vice President had initially sought treatment at UGMC after a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Following medical advice, she travelled abroad to continue her recovery as a precautionary measure.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that his quiet but powerful presence brought her immense comfort at a time of great vulnerability.
Though she also thanked her doctors, President Mahama, and the Ghanaian public for their support, it was Ibrahim Mahama’s gesture of simply being by her side that she described as profoundly impactful.
“Your brother, Mr Ibrahim, he stopped at nothing to ensure that I had what I needed. And then he also came to the hospital. He came to sit by me, and that was healing by itself,”
