The government has disbursed over GH¢30 million from the Tourism Development Fund to strengthen cultural tourism nationwide.
The announcement was made by Policy Advisor at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who represented Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the 61st Oguaaman Fetu Afahye in Cape Coast.
He explained that the investment, channeled through the Creative Arts Agency and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, is intended to make festivals like Fetu Afahye key economic drivers while providing sustainable opportunities for Ghanaian creatives.
The delegation, which included Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto and Cape Coast South MP George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, also donated assorted items and cash to support the festival.
Dr. Ampofo assured that government is prioritizing the Accra–Cape Coast road project, describing it as a pressing concern for commuters.
Meanwhile, Central Regional Minister Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere disclosed plans to establish a free zone in the region to attract more investment beyond Accra.
