The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II remains the lawful Bawku Naba, in line with Supreme Court rulings, following its endorsement of the Bawku Conflict Mediation Report presented by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, government said it “affirms the unequivocal position of the law, as consistently upheld by the Supreme Court of Ghana, that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is the lawful Bawku Naba.”
The statement further emphasised that the legal position leaves no room for dispute, stating, “In particular, the Government affirms the unequivocal position of the law, as consistently upheld by the Supreme Court of Ghana, that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is the lawful Bawku Naba, and that no individual or group is permitted, under any circumstances, to contest his authority or legitimacy.”
According to government, the mediation report is not intended to declare winners or losers but to serve as a framework for restoring peace, upholding constitutional order and fostering reconciliation in Bawku and its surrounding communities.
Government has therefore urged all parties to respect the authority of the lawful Bawku Naba and commit to peaceful coexistence, warning that continued challenges to legally recognised authority undermine national stability and efforts to achieve lasting peace in the area.
