Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson is championing an economic bond with Jersey, a move that will deepen bilaterial cooperation between Ghana and Jersey.
According to Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, discussions are underway to finalize agreements on Double Taxation and Bilateral Investment, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on general cooperation in key sectors.

A meeting held in London on November 5, 2025, between Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson, and Jersey’s Minister for External Relations, Deputy Ian Gorst, highlighted the potential for growth in areas such as financial services, trade, digital innovation, and skills development, with the two sides also identified agriculture, trade missions, labour exchange, and educational opportunities for girls as key areas for cooperation.
This latest development seeks to strengthens cooperation between Ghana and Jersey, with focus on promoting investment and economic growth.
The agreements and MoU are expected to be formalized during an upcoming official visit to Ghana by the Jersey side in early 2026, further cementing the strong ties between the two nations.

In order to bring her office and service closer to Ghanaians living in Jersey, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, has also revealed plans to establish an honorary consul in Jersey to cater to the needs of Ghanaians residing there.
This move is part of efforts to strengthen ties between Ghana and Jersey, as she continues to show leadership in her capacity as Ghana’s representative in United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
