Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that Ghana has secured a US$12.83 million grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to fund feasibility studies for key infrastructure and development projects under the government’s Big Push programme.
The projects covered by the grant include:
- A proposed interchange at the 37 Military Hospital
- Redevelopment of major markets, including Agbogbloshie, Techiman, Sekondi, and Mankessim
- Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in the Afram Plains, Nsawam, and Builsa
In a Facebook post, Dr. Forson explained that the funding will cover detailed feasibility studies, which will include full designs, costings, and environmental and social impact assessments, ensuring the projects are construction-ready.
“For all these projects, the funding will support detailed feasibility studies, including full designs, costings, and environmental and social impact assessments, to ensure they are ready for construction,” he said.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the African Development Bank and its Country Manager, Eyerusalem Fasika, for their support.
“I am grateful to the African Development Bank and its Country Manager, Eyerusalem Fasika, for their strong partnership and continued support,” Dr. Forson noted.
He added that the government aims to complete these studies promptly so that construction can commence soon.
“Our aim is to complete these studies early enough to allow construction to begin soon,” he said.
