The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory urging Ghanaians planning to perform Umrah to temporarily delay their trips due to rapidly evolving security concerns in parts of the Middle East.
The advisory specifies that prospective pilgrims who have not yet commenced their journey should suspend travel until the situation stabilizes. “The safety and well-being of Ghanaian nationals remain the Government’s utmost priority,” the Ministry stated.
For Ghanaians already in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah, the Ministry advised calm and compliance with local authorities’ directives. Pilgrims are also encouraged to maintain regular contact with their travel agents, the Ghanaian Embassy in Riyadh, and the Consulate General in Jeddah.
This advisory follows a broader notice issued in late February 2026, which recommended avoiding all non-essential travel to several Middle Eastern countries—including Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE—due to escalating military hostilities and airspace closures.
