A businessman, whose name has been withheld for security reasons, has come forward with allegations of fraud against George Marfo, a well-known for buying auctioned goods at Tema Port.
The complainant claims that Mr. Marfo swindled him out of GHS 40,000 in 2022, under the guise of facilitating the purchase of auctioned containers from the port.
According to the businessman, Mr. Marfo took the money, promising to deliver several containers of auctioned goods. However, once the payment was made, Mr. Marfo neither provided the goods nor returned the funds. Despite numerous attempts to contact him, Mr. Marfo has remained evasive.
An investigation by TheOverseerOnline.com revealed that Mr. Marfo resides in McCarthy Hill, Accra. When our reporters reached out to him for his side of the story, Mr. Marfo acknowledged the business transaction but cited unspecified issues with the containers as the reason for the delay. He promised to refund the money but has since ceased all communication and failed to honor his commitment.
The complainant, growing increasingly frustrated with Mr. Marfo’s unresponsiveness, has indicated that he is preparing to escalate the matter. Plans are in motion to file a formal complaint with the police and pursue legal action to recover the lost funds.
This incident has raised serious concerns about fraudulent activities associated with auction sales at Tema Port. Authorities are urging businesses and individuals to exercise heightened vigilance and ensure all transactions are thoroughly documented to avoid falling victim to similar schemes.
The investigation continues and theoverseeronline.com will be updating the general public when there is a new development .
