The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Margaret Ansei, has led stakeholders in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region to celebrate and support 133 young entrepreneurs who have successfully completed vocational training under the Business in a Box (BizBox) initiative.
The initiative, implemented by the GEA in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, seeks to equip young people with practical skills and resources to establish and grow sustainable businesses.
The beneficiaries were trained in food processing, gari processing and fish farming and received start-up kits tailored to their respective areas of training.
The kits are expected to provide the young entrepreneurs with the essential tools needed to put their newly acquired skills into practice and begin building viable enterprises.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Ms Ansei highlighted the significant opportunities available in agriculture and agribusiness, particularly in job creation, enterprise development and sustainable livelihoods.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the training and start-up equipment to develop their businesses and create employment opportunities for others.
The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, Kwasi Amankwaa, who joined the programme, also urged the beneficiaries to put their skills and start-up kits to productive use and work towards growing their enterprises.
Ms Ansei said the GEA would continue working with its development partners to create an enabling environment for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and aspiring entrepreneurs to access the skills, resources and opportunities required to start, grow and sustain their businesses.
She said empowering young entrepreneurs with practical skills and the necessary tools would help transform ideas into viable enterprises while contributing to job creation and local economic development.
